AI use policy & transparency statement

Effective 30 August 2026

This page states plainly how OpenWebReview is run, where automation and AI are involved, and how to ask for your information to be taken down or your website to be excluded.

Who runs this site

OpenWebReview is an independent, self-funded research project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or paid by any company it reports on, and it does not sell reputation management, removals-for-payment or bespoke investigations.

There are no accounts, no advertising and no trackers. The site is operated by a small team reachable at the single address below.

How the site is run, step by step

1. Retrieval. When you search a company, an automated web-search and page-retrieval service fetches publicly accessible pages: review platforms, company newsrooms and press releases, regulator and court records, filings such as 10-Ks, and news coverage.

2. AI-assisted analysis. A large language model reads the retrieved text and structures it into a report: review aggregates, frequently used descriptive words, notable positive and negative comments, company responses, legal record and press items. The model summarises and organises source material; it is not asked to reach verdicts about a company beyond what the sources say.

3. Linking. Every substantive element of a report links back to the page it came from so you can read the original in context.

4. Editorial articles. Blog articles are written and edited by humans using primary sources, with AI used only for drafting assistance, structuring and copy checks. Sources are listed on each article.

5. On-demand generation. Reports are generated when you request them and are not stored as user profiles.

What AI is and is not used for

Used for: summarising public text, extracting quotes and themes, grouping sentiment, structuring reports, and drafting support for editorial work.

Not used for: scoring or profiling individuals, making automated decisions about any person (employment, tenancy, credit or insurance), generating quotes or facts that are not present in a cited source, or ranking companies for payment.

Limits you should know about

Automated systems can misread, mis-attribute or miss context, and source pages can be outdated, disputed or wrong. Reports are informational summaries of third-party material, not investment, legal, credit or screening advice.

Always verify a material claim against the primary source we link to before acting on it. Where we are uncertain, the report says so rather than guessing.

Human oversight and corrections

Every correction request is read by a person. Where an objection is well founded we correct, add context to, or remove the content — and where a systematic error caused it, we fix the underlying rule so it does not recur.

Takedown, correction and exclusion requests

You can ask us to remove information about you or your company, or to stop using your website as a source, by emailing openwebreview@proton.me. One address handles everything — put “Removal request” in the subject line.

Please include: the page URL and the exact passage (or the domain you want excluded), who you are and your connection to it, the reason for the request, and a primary source if you are correcting a fact. We acknowledge requests within two to three business days, and honour exclusion requests from a site owner or authorised representative by removing the material and adding the domain to our exclusion list so it is not retrieved again.

Email a removal request

Automated crawlers we operate respect robots.txt directives, so a disallow rule for your site is also honoured — email us if you want existing material removed as well.
